Historians have paid an increased attention for gender research and this topic has been an emphasized field of history writing in the last few decades. The conference would like to fit into this tendency. The primary purpose of the conference – in connection with the commemoration year of the Reformation- is to examine the relationship between the religions and the female roles, drawing a special attention to the Christian confession which mainly present in Europe and Hungary. We also intend to extend the time interval of the research for before and after centuries of the Reformation which proceeded in the 16th century. We are looking for answers for the following questions:
- What was the opinion from the women roles in different confessions and what was their role in the social and ecclesiastical life?
- How appeared their religious awareness in their everyday life and how transformed the women roles throughout the centuries?
- How managed to expand their role what was strictly regulated by the ecclesiastical norms in the different social groups?
- How worked the contradiction behaviour regarding to the women role over the centuries?
