The Fondazione per le scienze religiose Giovanni XXIII (Fscire) invites applications for three-years post-graduate specialization courses, international fellowhips and postdoctoral fellowships.

Post-graduate specialization courses

The Fondazione per le scienze religiose Giovanni XXIII is offering three places, of which one or more with a scholarship, in the fields of the history of religions, exegesis, and theology to candidates for the three years post-graduate specialization course (2018–2021) at the Alberigo School for religious studies.

The call is open to candidates of any nationality holding a Master’s or advanced degree – or equivalent non-Italian qualification – in fields relating to the content of the specialisation course.

The application and all the additional documents must be sent or delivered by hand to the secretariat of the Foundation (114, Via San Vitale, 40125 Bologna, Italy) by 31 July, 2018.

International fellowships

The Fondazione per le scienze religiose Giovanni XXIII invites applications for international fellowships. Apllicants must: hold a doctoral degree in one of the domains pertaining to religious studies; demonstrate fluency in English, be non-Italian citizen and cannot have been found guilty of criminal offence. Teaching experience and knowledge of other modern or classic languages would be an asset.

Application is open all year round. Fellowship will last one year.

Postdoctoral fellowships

The Fondazione per le scienze religiose Giovanni XXIII invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships. Candidates may thereby apply for one of the following positions:

i. Junior Research Fellow (2 years, renewable).

Applicants must have obtained their doctorate within the last five years. The successful candidate will sign a research contract for two years, equivalent to the Italian “Assegno di ricerca junior” (with a gross annual salary of € 28,800, which amounts to a monthly net sum of about € 1,400). The contract defines a research programme in accordance with the research lines of the Foundation; it might also include the publication of the candidate’s dissertation during the second year of the fellowship.

ii. Senior Research Fellow (2 years, renewable)

The Applicant’s doctoral thesis must have already been published. The successful candidate will sign a research contract for two years, equivalent to the Italian “Assegno di ricerca senior” (with a gross annual salary of € 33,703, which amounts to a monthly net sum of about € 1,650). The contract defines a research programme in accordance with the research lines of the Foundation.

iii. Lecturer (3 years, renewable)

Applicants must have obtained their doctorate within the last ten years; they must have already had their thesis and at least one other monograph published; they must provide evidence of having held at least a three-year position as research fellow or equivalent. Candidates are encouraged to submit a research proposal which would be strategic for the Foundation. The successful candidate will sign a three-year contract (with a gross annual salary of € 37,800, which amounts to a monthly net sum of about € 1,750). The contract defines a research programme and a number of additional activities to be conducted on behalf of the Foundation.

All fellowships are residential. The call for an International Visiting Fellow is always open.
